What Does Life Purpose Have In Common With Your Goals?

“No meaningful accomplishments happen in anyone’s life until they link their thoughts with a PURPOSE, their own personal and meaningful reason WHY!”
James Allen
If you’ve ever attended any self development or wealth creation seminar,
you know that the presenter usually starts with the topic of the goals
setting. Yes, it is important to know where you are heading otherwise you
might finish nowhere. However, having goals is just a starting point.
Saying you want a million dollars is a goal. For it to become a reality, you
need to have a purpose behind the goal. Otherwise there will probably not
be enough of a force, a strong enough force to make a million dollars in
the first place.
A lot of times the reason people go on a diet and they go of the diet…they
start a new hobby or career and they soon quit is that they can’t get
motivated. There is no purpose behind the goal. There is no strong
enough reason for doing that.
In his book Getting Rich Your Own Way, Srully Blotnick talks about a
study done over 20 years with 1500 people. All 1500 people were asked
the same question ”Would you rather go for your dream now
or wait until you are financially secure and then go for your dream?”
83% of people responded that they would wait until they were financially
secure and then go for their goal. They designated Group A. Group B
however comprised of 17% who opted to go for their dream now.
20 years later they found that out of the entire 1500 people, both Group
A and B, there were 101 millionaires. However 100 of these millionaires
came from Group B who had elected to go for their dream first. There was
only one millionaire from the 83% who decided to become secure first.
As this fascinating study shows, unless there’s strong “Why” attached,
unless there’s some purpose attached to our dreams, it is very unlikely
that they are going to happen.
The above survey is related to the wealth creation but the principals apply
to any other field. The goal to which you attach your purpose doesn’t
matter. It can be a material possession, an improve relationship or a sum
of money. What does matter is that your purpose for getting it, achieving
it or crating it is clear and strong.
Find greater purpose behind what you do and keep it in front of you at all
times. It’s something that you love to do. It’s something that you’re
passionate about and it will usually start from your hart.
